Tidings gets the scoop from Canada’s best sommeliers >>When in doubt always ask. Whether you ask the sommelier or, in some instances, the waiter, you’ll get the benefit of experience. And in some cases, a good bottle of wine.
Don’t be afraid to pick wines according to style (Old World, fruity, etc.). Tell your sommelier what you like and he’ll find something to fit your request.
Not all sommeliers are condescending! If they recommend a wine that doesn't exactly fit your request, it may be because he’s tasted something better. Remember they eat — and drink — where they work.
