Interested in picking up some exclusive Cognacs and helping the French Institute restore its objets d'art at the same time?

La Part des Anges (the Angel's Share) is Cognac's auction to benefit the French Institute. On September 16, exclusive Cognac carafes and box sets offered by 24 Cognac properties will be auctioned off. Initiated by the National Interprofessional Bureau of Cognac (BNIC) in 2006, the success of La Part des Anges auction depends upon the generosity of those who work year round on the making of Cognac. On offer are the producers' aged eaux-de-vie.

24 exceptional bottlings to discover the magic of Cognac

Cognac is a part of the French cultural and gastronomic heritage. Here are the twenty-four Cognac houses offering their eaux-de-vie: ABK6, A.E. Dor, A. de Fussigny, Bache-Gabrielsen, Braastad, Camus, Courvoisier, Delamain, Ferrand, Frapin, Godet, Hardy, Hennessy, Hine, Léopold Gourmel, Leyrat, Martell, Meukow, Montifaud, Normandin Mercier, Otard, Prince Hubert de Polignac, Rémy Martin, Royer.

Les Chais Monnet

La Part des Anges 2010 will take place in Les Chais Monnet. The property stretches over twelve acres and is made up of two immense warehouses, each 12,600 square feet. These warehouses were used to age Cognac eaux-de-vie. One of the more remarkable structures with regards to size and architecture is the blending warehouse. There, forty 70 gallon barrels held the eaux-de-vie. The structure makes use of the sloping landscape to facilitate the movement of the eaux-de-vie from one barrel to another. Hence why it's also called the cathedral warehouse.

Mindful of keeping the importance of cultural heritage on everyone's mind, the BNIC took it upon itself to join forces with the French Institute. Arnaud d'Hauterives, Permanent Secretary of the Academy of the Beaux-Arts, will head up this fifth edition of the auction, as will Gabriel de Broglie, Chancellor of the French Institute. The proceeds will benefit restoration.

If you're interested in participating in bidding, a catalogue is available when you register. Visit La Part des Anges to book your spot.
