Hawaiian Seasoned Tuna
Traditionally, the tuna is served raw. But, you can also grill it before adding the dressing if you’d prefer.
Ingredients
1 Tbsp sesame seeds
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 tsp ginger, minced
1/4 to 1/2 tsp crushed dried hot red chilies
2 Tbsp soy sauce
1/4 cup green onion, minced
2 Tbsp Japanese salted seaweed (ugo), rinsed well, drained and chopped
1 lb fresh raw tuna
Method/Steps
1. Over low heat, cook sesame seeds in oil until seeds are golden, 2-3 minutes.
2. Remove from heat and stir in ginger. Let cool.
3. Stir in chilies, soy, onion and seaweed. 4. If serving tuna raw, trim off and discard any skin, dark portions or tough membranes. If grilling it, sear tuna over high heat making sure that the middle is still pink. Cut tuna into 1/2 inch cubes. Mix fish with sesame mixture. Serve with wooden picks.
