Beef Stew
Ingredients
2 lbs boneless stewing beef
2 Tbsp butter
1/4 cup thinly sliced onions
1 cup beer
1 garlic clove, pressed
1/2 tsp sugar
Salt
Pepper
Method/Steps
1. Season beef with salt and pepper. Dredge in flour. Set aside.
2. Sauté onion in 1 Tbsp butter until caramelized, 5 to 10 minutes. Set aside.
3. Add 1 Tbsp butter to pan, add beef and brown in batches, if necessary.
4. Add beer, garlic, onions, sugar and salt. Cover and simmer 2 to 2 1/2 hours.

Serve with a dark German ale or a peppery Syrah.
