Baked Pears with Anise Seed
Ingredients
4 Anjou pears, peeled
1/4 cup each hot water and firmly packed brown sugar
2 Tbsp butter
1/4 tsp anise seed
Method/Steps
1. Set pears upright in a baking pan. Trim bottoms as needed to help them stand without toppling. Mix water, brown sugar, butter and anise seed. Pour mixture over and around pears.
2. Bake, uncovered, in a 375°F oven until pears are tender when pierced, about 30 minutes; baste occasionally with pan juices. Serve with pan juices.
