Do you have a great idea that can make a positive impact on your community? Here's a chance for you to win a grant that can make it happen. The Pepsi Refresh Project allows Canadian individuals and organizations to submit ideas for grants under six categories.
• Health
• Arts and Culture
• Food and Shelter
• The Planet
• Neighbourhoods and Education
• one $100,000 grant
• two $25,000 grants
• three $10,000 grants
• four $5,000 grants
In an effort to promote this opportunity, the Pepsi Refresh Project has enlisted the help of Canada's top music artists to submit their own positive ideas. Hedley, Johnny Reid, Jully Black, Classified, the Trews and Stereos have shared their own ideas, and they're encouraging us to do the same on June 1st. This site is actually very cool, and I encourage you to visit it. You can peruse everyone's ideas, vote for your favourites and submit your own ideas. While you're there, you can watch the Canadian artists' own videos.
I must say that, at first, I was sceptical about this project. Was this just another marketing attempt by Pepsi? Well, no doubt; it certainly serves that purpose, too. Otherwise, Pepsi could organize and run the site anonymously. But, if you look beyond that, there's a lot of good that can potentially happen here. Joey Adler, CEO and President of ONEXONE and a director on the Pepsi Refesh Project Advisory Board, says, "I think it's incredible that Canadian musicians are using their influence to help spread the word about the Pepsi Refresh Project. The essence of the Pepsi Refresh Project is to create positive change in the world, and this obviously really resonated with these artists."
