Heavenly, sumptuous bread. At its most basic, it consists of flour, water and yeast. Granted, those are not the most inspiring of ingredients. They’re a lot like extras on a movie set. Milling about, nothing much to do, until the director calls them together … that’s when the magic happens.
Chocolate, oysters and champagne – now those are aphrodisiacs. But, bread…? Yes, I say! That carbohydrate rich delight ignored by so many, is just plain sexy. The aroma of fresh bread, its softness and delicate flavour can induce unexpected fits of pleasure.
Bread is actually very easy to make, especially if you own a blender with a dough hook or a bread machine. If you don’t have either, kneading the dough with your hands is its own act of love. Mould it to any shape. Toss in additions, such as olives, garlic, raisins or chocolate. A fresh loaf of bread makes the most mundane meal special.
