'Tis the season to throw the diets away. Indulge for a moment in the array of festive cakes, pastries and cookies that seem to adorn every meal and every get-together at this time of the year. Not just for dessert, these yummy sweets make great hostess gifts, cocktail nibbles or the star attraction at a cookie exchange. Bring one or two of these desserts to a potluck dinner, and be the hit of the party. Don't be surprised if everyone asks you for the recipes.
