Over the centuries, every culture has created its own delicious sweet treats that are meant to be enjoyed at special occasions. What better way to mark the end of a dreary winter and sparse fare than by baking up cakes and breads rich with cheese, almonds, candied citrus peel, cinnamon and saffron.
