Grilled Tuna Steaks with Noodles
Ingredients
1-1/4 lbs tuna, cut 1 inch thick, rinsed and patted dry
Chinese Noodles with Shiitakes (recipe follows)
2 Tbsp soy sauce
2 tsp sesame oil
Noodles
1/2 lb fresh shiitake mushrooms, stemmed, rinsed, drained and sliced
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1 Tbsp ginger, minced
2 cups chicken broth
2 cups water
1 lb Shanghai-style or Udon noodles, rinsed and drained
1/2 lb snow peas
1/3 cup prepared oyster sauce
2 tsp sesame oil
Method/Steps
Tuna
1. Cut tuna into 4 equal pieces.
2. Grill until surface has browned, but centre is still red, 4 to 5 minutes total.
3. Spoon noodle mixture equally onto plates and top with tuna. Mix soy sauce and sesame oil, then drizzle over tuna to taste.
Noodles
1. In a 10 inch nonstick frying pan over high heat, stir in mushrooms, onion and ginger. Cook for about 5 minutes.
2. Add chicken broth, water and noodles. Bring to a boil and stir occasionally until noodles are barely tender to bite, 6 minutes.
3. Add snow peas and cook 1 minute more. Stir in oyster sauce and sesame oil.
