Flakey Pie Crust
The 3 - 2 - 1 ratio of flour, buter and water is the secret to making the ultimate flakey pie crust.
Ingredients
300 g pastry flour
200 g butter, cold and unsalted
100 g ice cold water
pinch of salt
Method/Steps
1. Dissolve salt in water.
2. Cut butter into flour. Keep cutting until you see pea-sized granules of butter and flour.
3. Sprinkle the water over the mixture, and stir until moist.
4. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface.Press the mixture together, without kneading, until it forms a ball.
5. Cover with plastic wrap. Chill for at least half an hour. Roll it out, and fill with your favourite fruit or cream-based filling.
